Project Fund

Project Fund

The aim of the fund is to support the community and sports work of the youth association movement in line with UMFÍ’s policy, including by increasing the education and knowledge of members within the movement about sports, training in organisational matters and community work.

UMFÍ’s member federations, active member clubs and departments within them are entitled to apply to the fund.

Allocation priorities

In line with the fund’s regulation, the fund’s board prioritises grants for:

  • Education and prevention projects that are likely to increase knowledge and professionalism within the regional federation, club and/or department.
  • Coaching and/or refereeing courses.
  • Projects that promote knowledge and preservation of the culture and history of the regional federation, club and/or region.
  • Projects and/or events aimed at strengthening the training of leaders, instructors and volunteers in sports activities.
  • Projects that promote economies of scale and shared use in IT.
Grant allocation

Please note that the fund does NOT support the purchase of equipment, tools and gear, meeting costs (including refreshments) or the general operation of clubs. Grants are normally never higher than ISK 400,000. However, the fund’s board may award higher grants in exceptional cases.

  • Education and prevention projects receive a maximum grant of 70% against receipts with the final report.
  • Coaching and refereeing courses receive a maximum grant of 50% against receipts with the final report.
  • Projects to preserve history and culture receive a maximum grant of 50% against receipts with the final report.
  • Projects and/or events aimed at strengthening the training of leaders, instructors and volunteers in organisational work (meeting procedures) receive a maximum grant of 70% against receipts with the final report.
  • Innovation and/or joint projects of member federations receive a maximum grant of 70% against receipts with the final report.

Applicants can ask the fund’s board for the reasons for its decision on their application.
